Hawaiian Airlines check-in for interisland flights in Honolulu moving to Lobby 3

Beginning Jan. 9, 2019, the check-in for all Hawaiian Airlines neighbor island flights will move from Lobby 2 to Lobby 3 in Terminal 1, as planned. Check-in operations for Hawaiian’s North American flights will remain at Lobby 2.

Police DUI stats for the week of January 1-6, 2019

During the week of January 1, 2019, through January 6, 2019, Hawaiʻi Island Police arrested fourteen, (14), motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. One of the drivers was involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of age of 21.

There were 163 drivers arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant who were involved in traffic accidents in 2018, compared with 220 in 2017, a decrease of 25.9 percent.

Hilo man dies in police custody after motorcycle crash

A 63-year-old Hilo man died Sunday morning, (January 6), after being in police custody. Responding to a 3:10 p.m. motorcycle crash Saturday, (January 5), Hilo patrol officers determined that the driver of 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling west on Makaʻala Street rear-ended a Toyota sedan and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Police are searching for Carmen Walker-Torres, a 24-year-old woman described as part-Hawaiian. Walker-Torres is 4 feet, 6 inches tall, about 105 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Walker-Torres was last seen in the Pahoa area on Saturday (Jan 5). Police and family members are concerned about her welfare.
