As of 1 p.m. Tuesday (March 22) the State Department of Health had reported no new confirmed cases of dengue fever since Friday (March 18). However, we would like to remind everyone that as previously stated, this outbreak remains active and is not anticipated to be considered over anytime in the near future.

Mauliwai Trail and Waimanu Valley campgrounds reopen

The DLNR reopened the Muliwai hiking trail and the campground in Waimanu Valley following the reopening of the Waipio valley access road. The reopening is due to an extended period of no new reported cases of dengue fever in Waipio residents.

The Department of Parks and Recreation will be conducting routine mosquito spraying and treatments of the Hookena Beach Park facilities.  This is a preventative measure only as there have been no confirmed cases associated with the beach park since November.
