UPDATE: Three school closures due to water outage in Kohala Monday (April 29)

North Kohala Water Main Break – REPAIRED

AFFECTED AREAS: HAWI, KAPAAU, NORTH KOHALA, HAWAI‘I

This is a Department of Water Supply (DWS) message for Monday, April 29, 2019, at 3:45 p.m.

Repairs have been completed to the water main break in North Kohala restoring water service to customers.

North Kohala Water Main Break – UPDATE

AFFECTED AREAS: HAWI, KAPAAU, NORTH KOHALA, HAWAI‘I

This is a Department of Water Supply (DWS) message for Monday, April 29, 2019, at 12:45 p.m.

North Kohala customers in the Hawi and Kapaau area will experience no water while DWS personnel repairs a water main break near the intersection of Akoni Pule Highway and Honomakau Road. Repairs are estimated to be completed by this evening. DWS has installed a temporary spigot along Waipiele Street near Akoni Pule Highway and water tanker will be stationed near Ainakea Elderly Housing for the public’s use. This is a Civil Defense water outage message for 7 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2019.

Kohala Water Outage

The Department of Water Supply reports a water outage in North Kohala due to water main break.  Outage may last for 6 to 8 hours.

Due to the water outage, Department of Education has closed Kohala High School and Kohala Elementary School for today.  Kohala Intermediate School will remain open.

Areas of Kapaau and Hawi may also be affected.
