Man and woman found floating offshore in Keauhou, Kona

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:10 p.m. alarm Sunday (March 31) to the area near the Sheraton Kona Resort in Keauhou for an initial report of two children floating face-down in the ocean.

A tour boat operator at Keauhou Bay took rescue personnel aboard to search for the victims. After two minutes of searching a man, 40-50 years old, was found about 15 feet from the shoreline and a woman, in her 40s, was found about 40 feet offshore. Both victims were brought aboard the tour boat for transport and to begin resuscitation efforts.

The man and woman were taken to the Keauhou Bay pier and transferred to a waiting medic unit. Both patients were taken to Kona Community Hospital in critical condition.

Stop bringing stupid tourists to this island. Most Mainlanders cannot swim. and they all need a life jacket if they get in any water..stop encouraging them to see the Manta rays. I’d say they both were out of shape just speculating.
