Police have identified the man who died from injuries sustained in a vehicle and bicycle crash Wednesday, (December 6), on Highway 19 near Hau Lane in the Hilo District.

He was identified as 70-year-old Jerry Lee Wiseman of Pepeʻekeo.

This was the 31st traffic fatality this year compared with 30 at the same time last year.

Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have risen 6.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.56/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 355 gas outlets in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.41/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

As Americans hit the road this holiday season to celebrate with family and friends, it’s important that we all drive safely and safe driving means sober driving. The Hawaiʻi Police Department will participate in a National Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over holiday campaign, (December 13-31), to raise public awareness of the dangers of drunk driving. During the Campaign, officers will increase DUI Checkpoints and roving patrols looking for drunk drivers.

Volcano Watch: Progress can be slow but adds up
