Honolulu Police arrest Hilo man wanted on a warrant for an assault case

Wayne Eric Alfred Gonsalves, Jr., was arrested on Tuesday, (September 19), on the Island of Oahu, by the Honolulu Police Department for the warrant of arrest part of this investigation. Gonsalves is being transported back to Hilo where he will have an initial court appearance on Friday, (September 22).

Hawaiʻi Island police have located and taken into custody a 19-year-old Hilo man wanted for questioning in a kidnapping investigation.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., Wednesday morning, (September 20), a 19-year-old female reported that an adult male known to her held her against her will within his vehicle. While on Kinoʻole Street near the intersection with Lanikāula Street, after several failed attempts to get out of the car, she was able to unlock the door, exit the vehicle and immediately began yelling for help. She received the assistance of nearby residents who called police as the suspect fled the area.

During the week of September 11, 2017, through September 17, 2017, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 24 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Eight of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 824 DUI arrests compared with 767 during the same period last year, an increase of 7.4 percent.

ArcLight agrees to sell Hamakua Energy Partners plant to new HEI subsidiary

An affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm (ArcLight) focused on energy infrastructure investments, has signed an agreement to sell its 60-megawatt Hamakua Energy Partners plant for an undisclosed price to Pacific Current, a newly established subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries (HEI).

Man achieves goal to visit all 59 National Parks

When Dave Parker entered Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park Tuesday night, he accomplished his lifelong dream to visit the 59 iconic national parks in the U.S. “To see Kīlauea erupt is indescribable and it’s just spectacular to see,” Parker said. “It’s the reason we came here,” he said.

Police seek Hilo man in connection with a kidnapping case

Hawaiʻi Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 19-year-old Hilo man wanted for questioning in a kidnapping investigation involving an adult female. Police are seeking David John Erlenbach who is described as 5-feet-11-inches, 170 pounds, brown eyes and black hair and is known to wear prescription type eyeglasses.
