Police identify driver killed in Hilo crash Tuesday (July 18)

Police have identified the woman who died from injuries sustained in the single vehicle crash (July 18), on Highway 19 near Nahala Street in Hilo. She was identified as 22-year-old Micaila Tellio of Hilo. This is the 21st traffic fatality this year compared with 12 at this time last year.

Police children’s backpack drive begins collecting donations

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is proud to participate again in a backpack drive for children who cannot afford to buy them. As in previous years, all police stations around the island will double as drop-off points for persons interested in helping children in need. Average gas prices in Hawaii fall 1.1 cents per gallon the past week

Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have fallen 1.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.30/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 355 gas outlets in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.24/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
