HI-PAL Winter Basketball Classic tournament open for entries

MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s HI-PAL, (Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League) will hold its 36th annual “Winter Basketball Classic” tournament, in collaboration with the Department of Parks & Recreation, from Monday, December 26, to Thursday, December 29, in Hilo.

Entries are being accepted for the following age groups to be played at the locations indicated:

  • 7-8 divisions at the PanaÊ»ewa covered courts
  • Boys 9-10 and Girls 10-and-under at the PanaÊ»ewa covered courts
  • Boys 11-12 and Girls 12-and-under at the Hilo Armory
  • Boys 13-14 and Girls 14-and-under at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium

The age cutoff date is December 31, 2016.

All championship games will be played at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on Thursday, December 29.

There will be no entry fee for this year’s tournament.

Deadline for team entry is Friday, November 25. Before the deadline, each team is required to complete and submit a registration packet, which shall include the eligibility affidavit (roster) and waiver form for each participant. Registration forms are available at all police stations. Completed registration packets can be dropped off at the South Hilo police station or mailed to:
