Monday (May 23), Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands officially announced the launch of Planned Parenthood Careâ„¢ in Hawaii. The app allows people to talk to a Planned Parenthood provider online and face-to-face through a secure video consultation system, and then receive birth control in the mail.

Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have fallen 2.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.65/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 355 gas outlets in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has increased 6.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.28/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Hawaiʻi Island police detectives have completed their investigation into a March 31 fatal shooting and have reclassified the case from a murder to a suicide. Final autopsy results determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and that the manner of death was suicide.

HawaiÊ»i Island police have charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with threatening notes left at WaiÄkea High School in Hilo. At 11 a.m. Friday (May 20), the teen was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and fourth-degree criminal property damage. He was then released to the custody of his family.
