PTA to open several training areas for bow hunting this weekend (April 9-10, 2016)

POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, Hawaii – Army officials are opening several training areas for bow hunting, here, April 9-10.

Humu’ula Unit (training areas 1-4) and Menehune Unit (training areas 5-6) will be open for bow hunting of pigs, goats and sheep only, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All hunters must check in and check out at the Army’s check-in station at Old Saddle Road Gate, across from the Mauna Kea State Park entrance. The two check-in stations at Mile Marker 49.5 gate on Daniel K. Inouye Highway and Gate 10 near mile marker 53, on Old Saddle Road, will not be in service this weekend.

Unless otherwise specified, all game mammal hunting activity at Pohakuloa Training Area follows State of Hawaii regulations; please refer to H.A.R. Title 13, Chapter 123 “Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting.”

During the next few months, PTA will begin using a service called iSportsman for hunting activities at PTA. During the transition period, hunters are encouraged to visit the website for more information and register for the service at https://pta.isportsman.net
