Police DUI stats for the week of January 25-31, 2016

During the week of January 25, 2016, through January 31, 2016, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 19 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Four of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes.

So far this year, there have been 91 DUI arrests compared with 82 during the same period last year, an increase of 11 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 110 major accidents so far this year compared with 103 during the same period last year, an increase of 6.8 percent.

So far this year, there have been no fatalities on Hawaiʻi Island compared with one during the same period last year. This is a decrease of 100 percent.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
