Police are investigating a robbery in Hawaiian Paradise Park Tuesday (Jan 26)

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a robbery Tuesday morning (January 26) in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision in Puna.

Sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m., a 30-year-old woman was checking her mailbox on Paradise Drive near the intersection of 21st Avenue when she was confronted by a man with a knife who demanded money.

The suspect fled into the bushes after removing cash from the victim’s wallet.

He is described as in his mid-30s, between 5-foot-6 and five-foot 8, with short brown hair and a tan complexion. He was wearing a grey or white tank top and black shorts.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
