The Hawi Reuse Center in Kohala will be closing after January 2016

MEDIA RELEASE

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division would like to notify the public that the Hāwī (Ka‘auhuhu) Reuse Center will be closing due to the inability to find an operator for the center. The last day of operation will be January 31, 2016.

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division would like to thank the Kohala community for their patronage of the Hāwī Reuse Center over the years and encourage the public to visit the Waimea Reuse Center or Kealakehe Reuse Center. The County will continue to search for qualified contractors to reopen the Hāwī reuse center in future bids for this service. The County intends to continue to evaluate options for reuse for the North Kohala District.
