Kona man charged with meth trafficking and other offenses

A Kona man has been charged with meth trafficking and other offenses after being found with illegal substances on Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona.

Friday afternoon (August 7), Vice Section officers served a search warrant on the person of 54-year-old James Busche of Kailua-Kona and the items he was carrying. They recovered 92.7 grams of a crystalline substance, 7.8 grams of a dried green leafy substance, paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use and $632 in cash for forfeiture.

Busche was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives continued the investigation.

At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, he was charged with meth trafficking, promoting a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $261,000.

He was held at the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday (August 10).
