Fire destroys home in Laupahoehoe Saturday night (July 25)

Hawaii County fire crews responded to a 7:59 p.m. alarm Saturday (July 25) to 36-2679 Mamalahoa Highway in Laupahoehoe for a structure fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a three bedroom home engulfed in flames. Crews had the fire under control by 8:30 p.m. and the blaze was declared out at 9:15 p.m.

There were no occupants in the home and there were no injuries reported.

The single wall construction home with aluminum roofing was declared a total loss at $250,000. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
