Fence posts stolen from county in Hamakua

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating the theft of fence posts from county property along the Hāmākua Coast.

Sometime between 2 p.m. Tuesday (July 7) and 8:30 a.m. Thursday (July 9), unknown persons pulled 47 T-rail posts out of the ground and removed them from county property along Highway 19 (Hawaiʻi Belt Road) just on the Paʻauilo side of the 35-mile marker. Each post was 6 1/2 feet long and silver in color.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Officer Joseph Passmore at 775-7533.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
