Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:02 a.m. alarm Friday (June 12) to North Glenwood Road for a structure fire. Firefighters arrived find a vacant two story wooden house engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjoining bamboo groves, 10,000 catchment tank and 100 gallon propane tank. Crews had the fire under control by 4:45 a.m. and it was declared out at 6:20 a.m.
Fire dispatch reports neighbors saying the home was abandoned with squatters living in the house. There were no injuries reported in the blaze and the loss of the home is estimated to be $30,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
