Kona has a new queen.

Jeanne Kapela was crowned Saturday evening in Honolulu as the new Miss Hawaii.

As the 2015 title holder, Kapela will represent Hawaii at the Miss America pageant in September.

Last year, as the reigning Miss Kona Coffee, Kapela was named second runner up to Miss Hawaii Stephanie Steuri.

This year, as the reigning Miss Kakaako, Kapela swept the swimsuit and talent competitions, which together were worth 50 percent of the total score.

She dedicated her win to her grandmother, Barbara, who she sites as her inspiration and who died of cancer less than a year ago.

She is the daughter of Keahi Kapela and Clifford Gaspar and attends Kapiolani Community College.

Miss Paradise Kauai Sarah Manuel was named first runner-up, followed by second runner-up Miss North Shore Keala Patterson and third runner-up Miss East Oahu Halialani Parish.

Fourth runner-up Miss Kahala Alexandra Roth also is from the Big Island and is the daughter of county prosecutor Mitch Roth.

In addition to thousands of dollars in college scholarships, Kapela won a new car from Cutter Ford.
