Police locate a Hilo man wanted on a warrant

Hawaiʻi Island police have located 23-year-old Kalyp Rapoza of Hilo, who was wanted on warrants and for questioning in a terroristic threatening investigation.

Rapoza was arrested Friday night and charged with contempt of court, violating terms of release and discharge of sureties.

He was also arrested on suspicion of terroristic threatening. He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation, which was for an alleged threat to neighbors on Kawailani Street in Hilo on April 23.

At 10:15 a.m. Sunday, detectives charged Rapoza with first-degree terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $10,000. He remained in the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday (May 4).

Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for a 23-year-old Hilo man who is wanted on a no-bail warrant of arrest for violating terms of supervised release and a bench warrant for contempt of court.

Kalyp Rapoza is also wanted for questioning in connection with a terroristic threatening investigation.

He is described as 5-foot-8, 145 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a mustache and goatee.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
