Fire destroys Puna home Wednesday (April 1)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 2:24 p.m. alarm Wednesday (April 1) to 13-784 Pohoiki Road for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a two-story home engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control by 2:55 p.m. and the fire was declared out at 3:05 p.m.

The owner was not home at the time of the blaze. The home was reported to be a total loss at $135,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Hawaii County fire and police.
