Hawaii Island extended furlough inmate Jason Cantan turned himself in voluntarily at the Hawaii Community Correctional Center (HCCC) in Hilo at 11 a.m. Monday (March 2).

Jason Cantan failed to report for his scheduled check-in on Wednesday, February 18 at the Hale Nani Reintegration Center. Inmates in the extended furlough program live and work outside of the facility but must check in at various times each week.

Cantan was serving time for Identity Theft 2 and Promoting Prison Contraband. His next parole hearing is scheduled for April of this year. He faces an additional escape charge.

Hale Nani is located in the Panaewa. The center offers offenders reintegration services and a work release program for sentenced inmates who will be released on the island of Hawaii.
