Police charge Waikoloa man with numerous firearm and drug offenses

Hawaiʻi Island police charged a Waikoloa man with numerous firearm and drug offenses following the execution of a search warrant on his home and vehicle in Waikoloa Village on Thursday (February 19).

South Kohala Community Policing officers, assisted by their Kona counterparts and officers from the South Kohala District, executed a search warrant on a Lanakila Street home in the Waikoloa Village area early Thursday morning and arrested 48-year-old Tandi “Duke” Ezzo of that address. Officers recovered 5.3 grams of suspected “ice” and several forms of paraphernalia related to the drug’s use and distribution, as well as ten firearms.

Relating to the drugs recovered, Ezzo was charged with six counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, three counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and one count of third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug.

With regard to the firearms recovered, Ezzo was charged with 10 counts of not having a permit to acquire a firearm and 10 counts of registration mandatory.

His bail was set at $39,000. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock pending his initial court appearance in Kona District Court scheduled for Monday (February 23).
