Police DUI stats for the week of February 9-15, 2015

During the week of February 9, 2015, through February 15, 2015, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 12 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Three of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes.

So far this year, there have been 118 DUI arrests compared with 164 during the same period last year, a decrease of 28 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 155 major accidents so far this year compared with 205 during the same period last year, a decrease of 24.4 percent.

So far this year, there have been four traffic fatalities on Hawaiʻi Island compared with three during the same period last year, an increase of 33.3 percent.

To date, one fatality was related to drugs (1), alcohol (0), or a combination of both (0).

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
