Wind advisory and road closures update for Sunday (Feb 15)

8 a.m. Hawaii County Civil Defense Update

The National Weather Service has cancelled the high wind advisory for Hawaii Island except for the summit areas of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Wind conditions have been improving through the night and are expected to continue to improve. Although all major highways and roadways are cleared and open, some subdivision roads may still have downed trees and power lines. HELCO and public works crews are working to restore power and to clear all major roadways. The public is reminded to treat all downed power lines as energized and to report power outages and downed lines to HELCO at 969-6666.

Hawaiian TelCom has reported that all telephone service to affected areas and the 911 system has been restored as of 1 a.m. this morning.
