Two people on fire from gasoline in critical condition in Kona

Fire/rescue crews responded to an 8:55 a.m. alarm Sunday (Feb 15) to the Alii Drive fronting Kahaluu Beach Park for two people with critical burns from being on fire with gasoline.

According to fire dispatch lifeguards heard people screaming and saw two people on fire on Alii Drive fronting Kahaluu Beach Park. The lifeguards were able to extinguish the fire and treated the victims with oxygen until medics arrived.

A 55-year-old man and 40 to 50-year-old woman were taken to Kona Community Hospital both in critical condition.

Alii Drive was closed to traffic as police investigated the incident and reported to be open at 1:42 p.m.

    Hopefully these people will recover from their burns…. would be nice if the reporters found our more info, like how the fires started
