Early morning fire in Hawaiian Paradise Park sparked by incendiary device

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:27 a.m. alarm Thursday (Jan 29) to 25th Avenue (Okika Ave) on the makai side between Paradise Drive and Kaloli Drive in Hawaiian Paradise Park for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a single story, three bedroom home of about 1,000 square-feet under construction with a fire in the hallway and living room. firefighters had the blaze out by 4:40 a.m.

There was $20,000 in damages and about $110,000 of the home estimated to have been saved.

The cause of the fire was determined by a fire inspector to be ‘suspicious’ and was started with an incendiary device, Hawaii Police Department was also on scene to investigate.

There were no injuries reported in the blaze.
