MEDIA RELEASE

HONOLULU, January 3, 2014 – Red Cross volunteers today assessed the damages brought by the wind storm overnight in Maui and Hawaii counties. In Hawaii County volunteers met with two families whose homes were destroyed in Pahoa and Mountain View and provided them with financial assistance for their immediate emergency needs of food, shelter and clothing.

In Maui County, volunteers identified two homes that appear to have sustained damage but are currently inaccessible. Caseworkers will continue to follow up with the families affected in the coming weeks to provide referrals, guidance or additional assistance as needed to help with the recovery process.
