Unidentified body found in Hawaiian Acres (Nov 1)

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaiʻi Island police have initiated a coroner’s inquest case in connection with a body found in the Hawaiian Acres subdivision over the weekend.

Puna patrol officers responded to a 12:43 p.m. call Saturday (November 1) and received information that a man had been cleaning up his property on Road G following a Halloween party, when he discovered a body along the northeast corner of his property.

The victim, who has not been identified, had last been seen walking in the area of the Halloween party.

He is described as Caucasian, in his mid- to late-20s, about 5-foot-10, about 145 pounds with medium-length wavy dark brown hair, a light complexion, a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a black trench coat, black “Metal Mulisha” board shorts and has piercings in his lower lip.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section have ruled out foul play after preliminary results of an autopsy conducted on November 4, but are awaiting results on toxicology findings for a determination of the exact cause of death.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident or anyone who may know the identity of the victim to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Dean Uyetake at 961-2379 or duytetake@co.hawaii.hi.us.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
