Search and rescue crews concluded their final day of searching for a missing fisherman, Charles Rosecranes, Saturday (Oct 4). Rosecranes was swept off his boat 1 a.m. Wednesday (Oct 1) into Pohoiki Bay. Rosencranes was making engine repairs to the 15-foot boat he and a friend were operating when he fell overboard. Rosecranes was last seen wearing a blue and white pin-striped shirt, rain coat, pants and rubber boots.

The Fire Department Chopper One conducted an aerial and shoreline search up to a mile offshore from Kalapana to Kapoho Bay while rescue divers conducted searches in and around Pohoiki Bay. Rescue Boat 2 searched the coastline and up to 1/4 mile offshore. No sign of the Rosecranes has been found.

The search has been terminated after four days of operations involving the Hawaii County Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard.
