Hawaiian Telcom completes repairs after Iselle

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaiian Telcom has restored service to all customers on the Big Island who were affected by Tropical Storm Iselle.

Crews are completing a final sweep throughout the Puna District to identify and address any outstanding items.

Customers who do not have phone or Internet service are advised to call Hawaiian Telcom’s 24-Hour Service Center at 643-6111.

Over the next two weeks some customers may experience a temporary loss of service of about two hours as Hawaiian Telcom crews replace equipment.

These temporary disruptions do not need to be reported unless the outage continues past 6 p.m.

Hawaiian Telcom will continue to provide free Wi-Fi service at the Hawaiian Paradise Park Activity Center and the Pahoa Community Center through the end of September. Hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To take advantage of the free Wi-Fi, consumers should bring their own wireless devices, laptop computers, tablets and smartphones.

Hawaiian Telcom thanks the Big Island community for their patience and understanding throughout this service restoration process.
