Henry Nakamoto was sworn in Tuesday, June 10 as the island’s newest Family Court judge.

Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald gave the oath to Nakamoto at a ceremony at Hilo Court House.

Nakamoto was joined by his wife Joyce, two sons and parents at the swearing-in ceremony and a reception after the ceremony.

Also in attendance were: Judge Greg Nakamura; Judge Glenn Hara; Judge Harry Freitas; Judge Barbara Takase; Hawaii State Bar Association President Calvin Young; Hawaii County Bar Association President Christopher Schlueter; Judicial Selection Commission Chair Dr. Doris Ching; Rep. Mark Nakashima; Rep. Richard Onishi; Judge Anthony Bartholomew; Judge Lloyd Van De Car; ABA State Delegate Margaret Masunaga; Judge Elizabeth Strance; West Hawaii Bar President Bob Kim; Judge Ronald Ibarra; Judge Melvin Fujino; Judge Aley Auna; Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald; and Hawaii State Bar Board Members Carol Kitaoka and Geraldine Hasegawa.
