MEDIA RELEASE

Over the weekend comedian Augie T went to Kona to attend the Kona Filipino Fiesta. He donated $40,000 on behalf of the Hawaii Construction Alliance and supporting sponsors. The monies were raised from his “Laugh for Relief” statewide Comedy Tour. Mayor Billy Kenoi was in attendance to acknowledge that the County of Hawaii will match the monies raised.

The money from the statewide tour will go to the COVO Foundation for a reconstruction project in Ormoc City in the Philippines, a sister city of the County of Hawaii. In 2012 a delegation from Hawaii Island, led by Mayor Billy Kenoi, visited Ormoc and neighboring towns in the region which were all devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan.
