Work to widen the existing low water crossing another ten feet on Pohakealani Road in Hamakua is in progress with completion set for the first week in June. The additional length was done in concrete and will take 28 days to cure before vehicles are allowed to drive over it. Motorists are advised to continue driving on the existing paved section of the crossing.

The site of the low water crossing is between Kukuipapa Rd and Pohakea Mauka Rd in Pa‘auilo, Hāmākua.
