Pacific Boats & Yachts supports PVS worldwide voyage

MEDIA RELEASE

In a measure of support for the mission and crew
of the vessels Hokulea and Hikianalia, as they set out on the Polynesian Voyaging Society’s (PVS) remarkable voyage around the world, Pacific Boats & Yachts has made two unique sponsorship contributions.

The first was helping to secure the 50-foot sailing catamaran Noa Noa as a gift to PVS, providing a platform to train navigators and crew while Hokulea underwent extensive refurbishment in dry-dock.

“We are deeply appreciative of Pacific Boats & Yachts’ support of our vision to sail around the world and prepare the next generation of voyagers and navigators,” said PVS President, Nainoa Thompson.

“Part of preparing them to lead is making connections with a global family that can work together to take care of Island Earth,” he said. “Pacific Boats & Yachts has helped to make this possible, and we are grateful for their contribution and aloha.”

Once Hokulea was back in the water, Pacific Boats & Yachts found a buyer for the vessel, securing a commitment of more than $200,000 to help fund the voyage.

The brokerage then elected to donate its entire $20,000 commission to PVS in recognition of a shared vision for improving sustainability and resource protection on our planet.

“To be able to contribute in this small way to the mission of the Worldwide Voyage, is an honor and a privilege for us,” said Rick Gaffney, Pacific Boats & Yachts’ president. “Hokulea has taught us many times over that island communities must work together to accomplish extraordinary things, and this voyage seeks to teach communities all over Island Earth, the sustainability and resource protection lessons island residents of yesterday and today, are often the first to understand.”

Pacific Boats & Yachts has been Hawaii’s premier powerboat brokerage in Hawaii for more than 25 years. Located in Kona’s Honokohau Harbor, PBY is also the exclusive dealers for CABO Yachts, Catalina Sailboats, Scout Boats, Albermarle Sportfishing Boats and Ocean Craft Marine rigid hull inflatable boats.
