Stations of the Cross at Church of the Holy Apostles (April 16)

MEDIA RELEASE

The public is invited to experience the Stations of the Cross at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles in Hilo.

The free event is 5 p.m. Wednesday April 16 at 1407 Kapiolani Street.

The Stations of the Cross mark various points on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem, Israel where Jesus walked from his sentencing to his crucifixion.

“For centuries individuals have experienced the Stations of the Cross as a way to gain an understanding and a deeper knowing of the steps Christ took in his suffering on the road towards his death. Despite the somber heaviness of the events presented, participants, by going through the process can gain wonderful insights into the mystery of Jesus’ gifts and how this story can enliven our 21st Century lives,” Church of the Holy Apostles Rector Rev. Moki Hino said.

Christian communities around the world present the Stations of the Cross during Holy Week, which marks the last week of Lent and the time just before Easter.
