Police release pair who were arrested on suspicion of murder

Hawaiʻi Island police have released two people who were arrested Wednesday (March 26) on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 59-year-old Hilo man. Results of an autopsy conducted Friday afternoon (March 28) on the body of Robert A. Evanson are being deferred pending further tests.

County installing sidewalks along Ainaloa Blvd in Puna

New sidewalks are being constructed along both sides of Ainaloa Blvd in Puna. The sidewalks will connect to Highway 130. The flood advisory for the Big Island has been extended until 11:30 p.m. Friday (March 28). At 8:35 p.m. weather radar showed heavy rain extending from Pepeekeo to Hilo to Mountain View and Pahoa.
