Alakai Academy opens in Kona

MEDIA RELEASE

Child Development Center: Alakai Academy has opened a Kona facility to serve children over 2 and under 6 years of age.

Alakai Academy is licensed by the state as a group childcare center through the Department of Human Services.

Alakai Academy follows a whole child approach to education as a way to develop leaders of all ages, founder and president Pable Penazola said.

“We believes children are not only intellectual, but also social and emotional beings,” he said.

In addition to a healthy academic curriculum, Alakai Academy nurtures children’s self-worth, while helping them discover their own potential.

The balanced approached leads to healthy growth and prepares children to excel in a wide range of interactions.

Tuition rates include benefits such as diapers and chef prepared meals. Since Alakai Academy accepts very young children, potty training is an integral part of the curriculum.

In addition, Alakai Academy has a chef on staff, and all meals are prepared from a childhood nutritionist-approved menu.

“The goal of Alakai Academy is to create the right conditions under which children can discover, recognize their potential, and feel confident enough to thrive,” Penazola said.

Members of the community are invited to call and schedule a tour of the facility and meet the staff.

Alakai Academy is located at 74-5565 Luhia Street.
