Hiker lost in Piha Forest Reserve is rescued Thursday (Feb 27)

Fire/rescue crews responded to an 11:25 a.m. alarm for a lost hiker in the Piha Forest Reserve near Laupahoehoe Thursday (Feb 27).

Crews searched for the lost 20-year-old male hiker lost in the Piha forest reserve. Rescuers were able to use GPS coordinates triangulated from the man’s cellphone position. The hiker was spotted by Chopper One and ground crews were able to get to the man and guide him out.

The man was in good condition and did not require any medical assistance.
