PISCES shared this photo of Hawaii Island taken from space, which was forwarded by NASA Astronaut Rex J. Walheim.

The image was taken by Walheim during STS-122 Atlantis, a NASA Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station that launched in February 2008.

PISCES Executive Director Rob Kelso, a former NASA Shuttle Flight Director who has 25 missions under his belt, said Walheim’s images are the “best ones [he’s] seen from any flight.”

PISCES received these pictures after Walheim’s visit to Hilo.

He was the keynote speaker at the 2014 Hawaii Astronaut Ellison Onizuka Science Day, which took place Jan. 25 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
