Hawaii Electric Light fixes outages caused by winds

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Electric Light Company crews Wednesday night and Thursday morning responded to outages caused by winds gusting over 50 mph.

Fallen trees and branches downed poles and lines overnight in various areas, including Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Hamakua to Pepeekeo, Hilo, Mountain View, and lower Puna.

Hawaii Electric Light personnel worked through the night to restore power and ensure public safety.

Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaiian Paradise Park and various locations in East Hawaii remained without power early Thursday as crews continued to restore all customers as quickly and safely as possible.

Customers may call 969-6666 to report power outages and downed power lines.
