Rep. Tulsi Gabbard spent Thursday on Hawaii Island visiting with constituents from keiki to kupuna.
She started off her day with a visit to the Ka Umeke Kaeo campus to learn about the charter school’s Hawaiian language immersion program, talk story with the students, and discuss the faculty’s efforts to build the school’s capacity.
Gabbard also met with Keaukaha and Panaewa Hawaiian Homesteaders to listen to their concerns and share updates on the congressional issues that affect their community.
She then visited the Hawaii County Economic Development Council for a briefing on the various programs that support Hawaii Island’s low-income families and individuals.
On Friday, the congresswoman will be on Kauai to meet with leaders of agencies and organizations that promote social justice and reduce recidivism.
