Police are searching for a Hilo man reported missing

John Richard Strange

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 70 year-old Hilo man.

John Richard Strange was last contacted by a caretaker on December 3, 2013 and has not been seen since.

Strange is described as a Caucasian male, about 5’8” tall, weighing about 160 pounds, tan complexion, brown eyes, and wavy grey medium length hair and a full beard. Strange has several tattoos on both inner forearms. He uses a wheelchair for mobility and also requires medication.

Strange’s family is concerned for his safety and well-being.

Police ask that anyone with information on this case or may know the whereabouts of Strange to call Lieutenant Gregory Esteban at 961-2252 or email at gesteban@hawaiicounty.gov.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
