‘Meet and Eat’ Thanksgiving celebration (Nov. 27)

MEDIA RELEASE

The Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry announces the 21st Annual Meet and Eat Thanksgiving Dinner.

The public is invited to join us for a traditional Thanksgiving meal 5:15-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Kealakehe Intermediate School Cafeteria.

It is free, but if you can, bring a bag of rice for the rice pyramid to help the Food Basket as rice is normally at a minimum during this period of the year.

The task force is made up of community organizations, churches and businesses joining together to feed the needy in West Hawaii.

Under the leadership of coordinator Ardie Ikeda, the program called Meet and Eat expects to serve 400 dinners this year and will be dedicated to the many volunteers who have made this program successful for the last 20 years.

During this period, Meet and Eat has served more than 165,000 meals to all who have needed food, companionship, spiritual uplifting and social help.

Those wishing to volunteer or contribute can contact Ardie Ikeda at 987-1664, Margo Takata at 960-1392 or Elaine Watai at 896-2785.
