Lowen hosts ‘Lawmakers Listen’ ahead of House Finance Committee visit

WHAT: Hawaii Island Site Visits

WHEN: Aug. 7 – 9, 2013

WHERE: Kona, Waimea, Hilo

Members of the House Finance Committee, chaired by Rep. Sylvia Luke will, tour various sites on Hawaii Island to view first hand several projects and programs supported by the Legislature.

The visits will allow committee members to see how they are progressing and receive status reports on effectiveness and specific needs.

The committee members include Hawaii Island Reps. Nicole Lowen (Kailua-Kona, Holualoa, Kalaoa, Honokohau), and Richard Onishi (Hilo, Keaau, Kurtistown, Pahala, Honoapu, Volcano).

The evening before, Lowen hosts a ‘Lawmakers Listen’ community update. This will be an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to a slate of state legislators.

Special guests will include House Speaker Joe Souki, Vice Speaker John Mizuno, Finance Committee Chair Sylvia Luke, Energy and Environmental Protection Chair Chris Lee, Consumer Protection and Commerce Chair Angus McKelvey, Majority Leader Scott Saiki and Majority Floor Leader Karen Awana.

‘Lawmakers Listen’ is 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Kealakehe High School Cafeteria.
