A family of five is homeless after a Fern Forest home burned down Saturday afternoon.

No one was injured, and the family was not home when the fire was reported at 4:25 p.m. on Kokokahi Street.

Fire crews arrived to find the front of the post-and-pier structure partially collapsed, and later the structure completely collapsed.

A van in a garage tent also was scorched in the blaze, officials said.

The fire was out at 5:02 p.m.

Officials said the structure was not insured.

Investigators have not yet determined a cause for the blaze, and damage is estimated at about $10,000.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
