Fire/rescue units responded to an 8:45 p.m. alarm Saturday (June 15) to 545 Ainalako Road in Hilo for a structure fire.
Arriving fire crews found a single story home engulfed in flames with fire spreading to nearby trees and heavy brush. Firefighters worked to prevent the spread of the fire to a nearby structure and had the fire under control by 9:28 p.m. and out at 10:45 p.m.
Ainalako Road was closed during firefighting operations and the home was deemed a total loss with an estimated value of $200,000.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
