Annual Chamber lunch headlines mountaineer Guller

World-renowned, record-setting mountaineer and professional motivational speaker Gary Guller is the guest speaker for the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce installation banquet.

The community is invited to celebrate the installation of its 2012-13 officers and directors 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Also on tap is presentation of KKCC’s Pualu Awards, which honor outstanding individuals, businesses and non-profits for dedication and hard work in the West Hawaii community.

In addition, the 2013 Hawaii Island Small Business Administration award winners will be recognized. A free business expo will take place one hour prior to and following the luncheon and the Chamber will share what it has accomplished during the past fiscal year and what it is eyeing for the future.

Guller made history in 2003 when leading the largest ever cross-disability group to reach Mt. Everest Base Camp, at 17,500 feet. After setting this record, the alpine climber went on to scale the peak, reaching the summit May 23, and becoming the first person with one arm to achieve this feat.

“Guller uses his extraordinary experiences to share with his audiences the importance of equality, determination, team-work and integrity, and how these traits lead to personal and professional success,” Vivian Landrum, Chamber president/CEO said.

The inspirational speaker encourages audiences to look deep into themselves, motivating them to set goals to maximizes their potential, placing fear and doubts aside to achieve success in business and in life.

Guller also shows how acceptance of diversity and diversity of thought will serve a globally integrated world economy in a positive way.

Admission for the luncheon is $55 for KKCC members and $65 for non-members.
