Hawaii 24/7 welcomes its first summer intern.

Roya Sabri, Kealakehe High School 2011 graduate, will be writing a variety of articles during her internship, including news, features and even some sports.

Sabri has just completed her second year at Cornell University in the English Literature and Urban and Regional Studies programs.

She said she is excited to contribute to the website’s mission of keeping readers updated about the most salient issues on the island.

“We’re just as excited as Roya. She’s one of the Big Island’s outstanding young adults and we’re really lucky to have her aboard,” Hawaii 24/7 co-founder and publisher Baron Sekiya said. “Not only will this be a great experience for Roya, I’m sure our readers will enjoy her stories too.”

The summer internship program is sponsored this year by Cornell University and a handful of Hawaii 24/7 supporters.

“We are very grateful to have such generous friends and supporters,” Sekiya said. “And we’re just pleased Roya and our readers will benefit from their donations.”
