MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Health Connector today announced that it has awarded Maximus Health Services, Inc. a $12 million multi-year contract for the development, implementation and management, including support services, of the Connector’s customer service contact center.

The contact center will be based on Oahu, and Maximus Health Services will hire as many as 25 employees to manage operations and services there.

The contract award will fund the contact center through 2017.

“Awarding this contract is another key milestone for the Connector and increases our momentum for October’s open enrollment,” said Coral Andrews, Hawaii Health Connector’s executive director. “Ensuring quality customer service and community outreach to Hawaii residents remain priorities for Connector staff.”

The customer service contact center will receive inquiries from multiple communication channels. In addition to telephone assistance, the contact center staff will be available by email, postal mail, web chat and fax.

The contact center will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, starting in mid-September.

The Hawaii Health Connector is the online health insurance marketplace for Hawaii. The Connector was established as a non-profit organization in 2011 by the Hawaii State Legislature through Act 205, in order to comply with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) of 2010.

The Connector’s aim is an online marketplace that is of Hawaii-for-Hawaii, one that takes into account the State’s unique culture and works with the Prepaid Health Care Act, an employer mandate for health insurance coverage in effect since 1974.
