Waimea Town Meeting include sneak peak of Longs (June 6)

Waimea Community Association Town Meeting (5:15 – 7 p.m., Thurs., June 6, 2013 in Waimea School cafeteria) promises an interesting, diverse agenda and the highlight for some will be a quick overview of the new Long’s by store manager Mark Brown.

The store officially opens Monday, June 10. When the meeting is pau at 7 p.m., attendees are invited to caravan over to the store for a quick sneak peak inside

Thursday’s meeting will also include:

* A Legislative report by Rep. Cindy Evans

* An important overview of the innovative Waimea Nui Region Community Development Initiative involving 14 infrastructure projects on approximately 166 acres of DHHL land south of Kuhio Village – by Mike and Tricia Hodson

* The monthly update on North Hawaii Community Hospital

* Dr. Claren Kealoha Beaudet will review programs and services offered by Kaheleaulani, the important still-new Native Hawaiian Health Clinic housed in our hospital

* A brief UXO update about work planned near Sandalwood Subdivision June 17-18-19 that is expected to include some partial closure of Kawaihae Road on Monday, June 17

* An invitation to participate in Waimea Preservation Association’s First Fathers’ Day Walk/Run – Sunday, June 16 by WPA’s Pete Hendricks

* A briefing on Coqui-Free Waimea’s progress, plus an invite to participate in its first “Dough Raising Day” at Domino’s on Thursday, July 4 – Independence Day – when 10 percent of entire day’s sales will be contributed to Waimea’s coqui volunteer squad to buy chemicals to eradicate these noisy pests!.

Hot coffee provided by Starbucks. Food pantry donations encouraged.
